Except that I’m home. It’s snowy and cold and I don’t have a jacket with me but man does it feel good to know that soon I’ll be back at my house with Husband and my cats and my Stuff. I know people really knock the midwest and it isn’t easy right now to live in MI, but I think I’ve come to terms with the idea of living here and actually liking it, just a little bit.
When we first moved out to Michigan, I was determined to hate this state. Winter is thirteen months out of every twelve and if it possible managed to get above 60 degrees, there were mosquitos as big as your arm.
Well the weather hasn’t changed all that much. In fact, as I head home on the shuttle bus, it’s snowing and we aren’t moving all that quickly. I still hate driving in the snow, but it is kind of pretty. It lets me keep track of when the deer are in the yard and covers up the neighbor’s dog’s poo. I like it when it snows during break and I have to stay home all day with a fire going and cats snuggled up next to me. You just don’t get too many days like that in the south.
So Michigan is growing on me. When my sister moves out to the west coast, I might not be quite as happy here, but we’ll cross that bridge when it comes. I’m going to enjoy it while the enjoying is good.
But to tell you the truth, I’d be happy to going back to where ever home and Husband and Friends were. And my internets. I couldn’t live without my internets. You make me happy too, internets people!
